Our Origin Story
After years in corporate retail, our founder saw firsthand how traditional supply chains overlook incredible artisans—especially women in underserved communities. At the same time, waste was piling up globally, while millions of women lacked access to sustainable income.
Through Women Enabled Enterprises, we began training women artisans across Africa to build profitable businesses. But training alone wasn’t enough—they needed access to markets.
ShopConsciously became the bridge.
Our mission is to transform waste into opportunity by creating sustainable livelihoods for women artisans through global market access.
Meet OUR FOUNDER
Prior to founding ShopConsciously and Women Enabled Enterprises, I spent a decade in retail and e-commerce.
Originally from South Africa and now based in California, I’m driven by a belief that when women have the opportunity to earn, they can transform their own futures and their communities.
I founded a sister non-profit Women Enabled Enterprises to equip women across Africa with the skills, training, and support to build sustainable businesses, creating income, jobs, and long-term independence.
ShopConsciously is our Fair Trade retail ecosystem, connecting products made by women in our program to customers around the world, turning their talent into thriving businesses.
